ATM (Automated Teller Machine) is usually used for transfering, withdrawing, or adding funds to our bank account. Most of bank’s ATMs use receipt paper for transaction copy. Don’t you know that receipt papers are also the biggest contributor for world trash?
Let’s say that there are almost 7 billion people in the world and just imagine if only 1,75 billion (a quarter of world population number) take the receipt paper a day. There will be 1,75 billion pieces of ATM paper in one day. And all of them will be throwed into the rubbish bin after people see them. What if 1,75 billion people take receipt paper everyday? There will be 12,25 billion of paper waste a week!
As a greener people, we can be smarter and green on ATM. How? Don’t take the receipt paper unless for a very necessary purpose! You can use internet banking or mobile banking for transaction and you don’t need taking the receipt because you can see it on your account overview. If it’s needed, you can scan the transaction detail taken from internet and print it, or upload it and send by email. It will save more consumption of world paper. Be green on ATM!
